French lyrics for My Long Journey Home

Messagepar MarinAncien » ven. 20 avr. 2012, 20:17

I am playing in Wales with a Bluegrass Band at an event with French visitors. It is a twin-town celebration. I have words for My Long Journey Home in English and Welsh, and would like some suggestions for French lyrics. It's a nice simple song but it is 50 years since I was at school. It should not be a literal translation but just what a native French bluegrasser might sing!

Chorus:
Lost all my money but a 2 dollar bill, 2 dollar bill boys, 2 dollar bill.
Lost all my money but a 2 dollar bill, I'm on my long journey home.

Ma tentative:
Perdu mon monnaie sauf deux dollar bill, 2 dollar bill gars/braves/boys, 2 dollar bill
Perdu mon monnaie sauf 2 dollar bill, j' sur mon voyage long

Verses
Cloudy in the West/East// looks like rain.
or Black smoke rising, looks like a train, etc etc
Obliged for any help.

Is there a web site with French Bluegrass Lyrics, all suggestions welcomed.
Thanks
Andrew

Welcome to the french forum, MarinAncien.

I would say :

"Perdu tout mon fric sauf un billet de dix, les gars" ... etc ( there's no 2€ banknote)
"Le ciel est noir à l'ouest. Sûr, ça va tomber"
"Un nuage au lointain, on dirait un train"
but I would not do all your job. It will make you practise our beautiful language. Image

Hurry up, if you want to sing it in french, next friday in Rosebush Post Office.
Si vous avez besoin de quoi que ce soit, n'hésitez pas à me le demander, je vous expliquerai comment on peut s'en passer.

Merci Geobar
I am practicing and must look up the Rosebush PO to the West of us at Swansea! Does "Au voyage du retour " sound OK for journey home, I was looking for something colloquial ideally..
